Pipestone

For many centuries, Minnesota pipestone has been an item of religious importance and a valued object of trade for many tribes. This high quality pipestone is easy to shape and is polished to a beautiful finish. Pipestone is the perfect natural material for pipe making.

These blocks of pipestone average 2 - 4 pounds (large enough for two pipe heads), with larger sizes available, up to 30 pounds. The thickness varies from 1 1/2 - 2 inches, averaging 4 - 6 inches. This pipestone is quarried on private land.

Red Pipestone (Catlinite) $10 per pound

Black Pipestone (Steatite) $10 per pound
